I bought a coti off the fleabay a few weeks back. I was quoted $12 and change for the shipping. Seemed a little steep, but I wanted that one bad and the box it was in did appear pretty heavy (it is dense wood). I looked at the postage and they were charged $16.80. I was pleasantly surprised that they didn't hit me up for the extra 4 bucks.

Surprised they didn't ship it in a medium flat rate box, isn't that like $12 and change? Is that the stone you were removing from the wood?

I think a lot of RAD is caused by the belief that there are certain razors that shave better than the ones you already own. After some time you might find that the razor that was such a let down when first experienced may become a favorite. What happened? you might say to yourself. What happened is that your shaving technique got better and you may of improved your maintenance and honing skills dramatically. Focus on getting your currently owned razors shaving the best they can, may keep you preoccupied enough to not wanting more razors, but of course there are always razors that catch your eye and you just have to have them.

My RAD was stopped when I realized that I was just repeating an old paradigm. It started with guitars, then moved on to watches, then to razors...there was just a compulsion to spend money on my collections. I finally realized, that a $1000 custom shaves no better than a well honed bargain razor.

Hi, my name is Roger and I suffer an addiction to Razor Acquisition Disorder. I have yet to go
a day without spending something for absolutely nothing of value. As a member, you should know
the 12 steps of RADAnon.
1. We admitted we were powerless over our desire to own sharp rusty things, broken chunks of
rocks and dried up scratchy strips of what once was leather—that our lives had become unmanageable.
2. Came to believe that education and DIY procedures greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
3. Made a decision to turn over our time and our attention over to the wisdom of our friends here at
the Straight Razor Place as we understood them.
4. Made a searching and fearless inventory of the trash we owned.
5. Admitted to Lynn, to ourselves, and to other forum members the exact nature of our addictions.
6. Were entirely ready to have forum members remove all these defects of the dreaded addiction.
7. Humbly asked for help to remove our shortcomings.
8. Made a list of all flea markets we had searched, and became educated to make more reasonable
purchases from them all.
9. Made less contact with such people whenver possible, except when to do so would injure them
or others.
10. Continued to take inventory, and when we made purchases, promptly admitted it.
11. Sought through advice and education to improve our abstaining abilities with our friends in this
forum as we understood them, seeking only for the knowledge of beautiful work for us and the power
to do that ourselves.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to other
RAD addicts and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
