Thanked: 1Budget is for razor only or maybe razor and some of the Whiskey Woods AS I have been reading about. Picked up a Illinois 361 strop a couple days ago on the cheap.

I vote for vintage. Post up what you would like i. The want ads here. Maybe someone has one they will part with. For 200 you can get a very nice vintage.
It's just Sharpening, right?

As said above. Look at the BST section. Well known members/honers/restorers listing razors for great prices.

My first razor was a Ralf Aust 5/8 and it’s fantastic. But everyone above is right and you could get 2 really nice vintage ones that will be shave ready. It’s good to start with 2 razors in case you roll an edge of one while stropping.Good Luck!

A good cheap strop is a shrewd investment congrats on getting one cheap, its very easy to nic a strop when you start out, always better to invest in a nice strop a few months down the line when you know its for you. And your happy with your stropping technique.

TR Cadman Bengall. Should be able to pick one up shave ready for ~$100. I have never owned a bad one, and I have had many. Not fancy, but very dependable.
