This was the runners up prize ! I really like its simplicity and clean lines! If it shaves like the 8/8 I have it’s a definate for ever keeper!

Nothing runner up about it at all, classic lines, beautifully ground, love the jimped tang, and the size is in the sweet spot, bet it gives a sublime shave....you posted it in any SOTD's?

To be fair I have a new Thiers which I’m now considering selling as I’m so smitten with the shaves from the tungsten 8/8 ! All I need to do now is intercept the postman before he gets to the front door with the new one !
What a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive!

Oooo - sat on the sideboard on my return from work - a parcel from Latvia, posted Monday (Latvia) delivered Friday (UK) not too shabby at all !
Razor beautiful packaged (too much so as took to long to open with slathering mouth). Exquisite in every detail , photos did no justice. If the 8/8 could be described as a manly bruiser, a masculine blade then this is lithe, svelte dare I say femmine in comparison. Rams horn scale polished to a near mirror finish, opalescent almost transparent , blade visible through but reflects light back through!
Unfortunately it was delivered whilst I was at work so failed to intercept the post man! Never mind better be hung for a sheep than a lamb!!!
Oh n for all you guys thinkin “p***y” afraid of ya wife - let me tell you I ain’t frightened- she’s a fkn redhead - I’m absolutely terrified !😉

Received huge pleasure from this themes. Recently, too, bought a Mappins Shilling razor. I have a question. Does anyone know when the sun logo disappeared from razor Mapping? On strazors.com written when this logo appeared next to the surname Mappin -1810. But it doesn't say when he disappeared. Somewhere I met this information, but I do not remember where exactly.
I also noticed that the sun faces on the strazors. com and on different razors different. And the number of rays on my razor and Sharptonn's razor is also different. I wonder what that meant.

I found where there was information about the date the sun logo disappeared From mappin razors. 1838. But unfortunately, it was only the announcement of the sale of Mappin's Shilling Razor. Of course, this can be unreliable.
Can anyone confirm or deny this information?

Off the top my head I seem to remember the sun symbol followed Joseph Mappin when the split happened. I don’t know that Mappin and Webb ever used the sun symbol. Sorry.

Edit: I believe Joseph Mappin & Brothers continued to use it and didn’t stop. Someone like Zak would have more reliable information.

What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

    A smooth goto

Just for the research you can look up which razor you have and model number / price in the illustrated catalogue.
    Enjoy a few clips.
