Thanked: 3228Call me a cynic when it comes to vintage razor brand name reputations. All I do know is that the vintage Puma I have shaves as well as the lesser known vintage brands of Solingen razors I also have. In other words they all shave very well. I think the standards were pretty high for all Solingen makers back in the day as competition was fierce among the many makers. Anyway to me a Puma is a good razor.
I'd also take what a maker of a product says in praise of their product in a self produced booklet with a large dose of salt.

Thanked: 39What are some of the telltale signs of pre-war vs post-war pumas?

If there's one Puma out there I could own it would be a 14 I've only ever seen one and it was a serious case of I need that razor badly.

Here's another rare Puma to look out for this was one I restored made in Sheffield with Sheffield steel, a Puma Lauterjung & Sohn made by Kayser Ellison of Sheffield.

Thanked: 3228I was wondering because Revisor lists Pumas from the 1950s - 1970s and they appear to have those numbers. It would be interesting to know if those numbers were a post war feature.
