    Default New Razor issue

So i've been shaving with a straight razor for a month my first razor was a $16 one from amazon. It worked good and I got use to that. Well I bought a new razor and this one doesn't seem to remove facial hair all that good. I have honed it to get it sharp like I mean it can cut paper easily. I tested it on leg hair and it removed that hair just fine but when I tried to shave with it didn't shave as well. I would love to get some advice on why its doing this or if its on my end.

plus it takes some time and experience to put on a shaving edge, more than likely your first razor isn't that good either. you need to send it to a reliable RAZOR hone guy from here and see what your missing,, plus it will take some time to get really good at shaving with one, a year from now you,ll see how much better you are and also what a real shave ready razor is.

Well I was wondering about the angle ad tightness of the skin. I think those are my issues but with the first blade it worked fine. I was wondering if edge geometry of the new blade be an issue as well.

I know it takes time. How would I find a guy to hone the blade?

What was your first razor? And what is the second? Who did you buy it from?

Thanks. This helps answer your question. In my poinion neither are decent razors. You would do better purchasing one on B-S-T on this site. It will be shave ready and a much better quality razor even if vintage. Your razors are poor imitations and do not come shave ready. I personally would not waste money to get them professionally honed.

I don't know how to say this gently but you need to buy an actual straight razor and not one that resembles one otherwise known as a RSO (Razor Shaped Object). Have a look through the BST section https://straightrazorpalace.com/razors-blades/ to see what to look for. Lots of different reputable brands both new and used. If you buy new from a reputable retailer buy a reputable brand and make sure they hone it to shave ready before they ship it. You can ask forum members who they have had success with buying new shave ready razors from. It just may make your shaving experience a whole lot better and more enjoyable.
