You'll be cursing when it happens to ivory scales or when your blade gets chipped badly, these things happen to the best of us unfortunately (I have my clumsy days)
Could've been a lot worse, but it's a sh*tty feeling when it happens

This is how I got into making scales.

Thanked: 292To everyone who ever dropped a razor (Who among us has not?), be thankful when the damage only occurs to the razor and there is no significant blood loss. When the damage is only to the scales and not the blade, that is even better.

Yes,
Get over the habit of slamming your knees together to stop the fall of a sharp object!!! Don't ask!

But that's how I fell in love with all things, sharp.

Scarred, not scared Mike, or you would certainly not be here offering mentoring help in a straight razor shaving forum.
Sorry to be pedantic, but spelling matters this time. Stupid English language! *

Oh...I was scared. I was only 4 or 5 when it happened. Thought I was gonna bleed to death. Yep, theres definitely still a scar, but not scared anymore. I'm covered with stupidity notches.

Funny, when I looked at the OP I didn't even see the broken scales, the blade looked OK. I had to go back and look again after reading down a bit.

Indeed, I would save the freak-out for when the actual tool gets damaged rather than its relatively inexpensive scales. Consider yourself fortunate Murphy gave you a second chance with this fine blade. *
