Having said that, workmanship was far superior years ago and though the tech is better now is the steel in that Chinese Razor really better? Maybe the razor doesn't utilize any of the better more modern tech.
You were absolutely right about that. Obviously the new Dovo Astra is a PITA. I have a Titan TT-70 which claimed to be HRC70. I would say it's probably really HRC70. It came with a smile edge, I tried to straighten it, which turned out a daunting job. The spine has to be fixed, and huge amount of steels to grind off. So even I tried to use a diamond plate to get it done faster, it took hours to get to half way where I wanted it to... Another PITA.

Not sure why you wanted to remove the smile unless it was way out of shape. A lot of us try to “hone to a smile”.

If it was only a little bit, I'm perfect fine. The problem was it was too much to me(~2mm center to center). Given the hardness of the steel, it's super hard to hone the whole edge. I have to say I wasted lots of the steel, but I don't quite like the half hollow grind anyway.
