Basically, they say that you can get an equally good shave from both. With that being said, I agree with Kenrup in terms of the price guys are hoping for. I cannot and maybe will not (out of principal) buy a $400+ razor. I don't have that kind of cash. A Maestro being available for $200 would let guys who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford it try out the fancy craftsmanship and enjoy a luxury razor.
I think Kenrup and Philadelph has a good point here, it should be in a price range that will allow most of the forum members to get in on the buy, personally i think I may have a limit at around $300 over that and I might have to consider it a little more...

The razors on the SRD site are still good. The prices however are not. I am going to be removing all the pricing and putting in a call for pricing because the Euro has gone up so much.

We should still be able to come up with something good for the group buy in any case. I am waiting to hear from the Maestro as we speak. I'm trying to be able to get him to make as many as possible so that as many of you will be able to get one as possible.

    Thanks!

Guys, I'm sure this will be a great deal especially with the rising Euro. My new wholesale pricing on Dovos from my supplier is nearly what I was retailing them for just a week ago! The Maestro prices wil only go up in time.
Being handcrafted as it is though I am sure there is a limit below which one simply could not be offered.

Money's tight right now ... so once we know the final details I'll make a final decision as to whether or not to jump off the list, but for now put me down on the list as a provisional "yes".

FWIW, either abalone or mamoth ivory would be a big selling point for me ... although I suppose that a Takeda blade would not be do-able.

Most of the Livi's are one piece scales especially the wood ones so there is really nothing holding them together.

I think if you are thinking in terms of shave quality vs price you might be making a mistake buying one because I can assure you that you can get an Eboy special for $40 and some tender loving care and it will shave as good as a Livi or any other custom for that matter. You have to realize these razors are truly handmade and the quality is fantastic. I think Lynn will agree here that unless you have actually held one in your hands you would not ever understand the difference between say a basic livi and and Puma or Wonderedge or any other superior vintage. We could try and explain it to you but you have to experience it for yourselves. If there is any way you guys can save up the money to get one you really should consider it. That quality and exclusivity is what you are paying for. To expect a Livi in the 200-300 dollar range I think is being unrealistic. I think given the current world economics if we can get one for under $500 I would say we would be doing real good. JMHO
