I got into this "hobby" and now it's an obsession...

Thanked: 84I'm a user! The problem is I will develope preferences for different razors (I'm new to it all) so I'll have buy more and more and more and more No seriously...
I would love to buy a hand made razor but they cost a fortune (even though I'm sure they are worth every penny)l.
There are plenty of good used razors for small money in the UK, that with a bit of cleaning and sending off to Steve invisibleedge for an edge ! are as good as anything. I must say though, I find the razors that everyone on here finds desirable, desirable also. This does mean not all my purchases are gooing to be that cheap.
So, I'm not a collector, I wouldn't buy a razor I had no intention of using.

I would have to agree with the accumulator aspect. When I started I figured ya know 4 or 5 that way I always will have one if I need to send one out to be honed or if I smack it on the faucet or drop it or what ever.
But What can you do when they just seem to spring up in front of you.
A perfect example, last weekend I saw this antique store with a 75% off sale sign
so I figured I'd stop, (actually the truck jumped into the parking lot before I even thought about it) when I went in I asked the lady if they had any straights and she told me someone had been in last week and bought the ones that she had but there might have been one left. out of the case she pulls a Union Cutlery Expert Barber, wood grain looking scales and only a couple small tarnish spots to the blade, and an unblemished edge, I just couldn't leave it there it was lonely. So I had to bring it home to some friends.
See its not RAD, I'm doing this for the razors they need the company of other straights. They crave the lather and I just have to help them.......
OK OK, where are the Razor Acquisition Anonymous meetings

I'm a shaver. I've got a small collection only in order to facilitate different shaving experiences. I generally stick to one razor anyhow.

A whole lot of poor souls in denial. Accepting the truth is the first step to recovery. That is if you wish to recover.

Thanked: 324I don't consider myself a collector but I don't know how many you have to own to be a collector - and I don't know how many I own, anyway. Eventually, I may have to take a weekend to try counting them.

I limit myself to my seven day rotation. I do not want to collect razors. I have a "number" of them on my bench, but they are either not mine, waiting for restoration or they are for sale. If I find one I to have, it must be able to bump one out of the rotation. I'm waiting on the group buy Livi but I don't know which one the current rotation I'm going to bump.

Thanked: 335Ken,
This Livi thing rings a faint bell. Can you expand on where you may have heard about this?
