I think that's a good point. I see that the "no-frills" Dovo straights are pretty well priced and I won't be buying a "pig in a poke" if you know what I mean.

The reason I was thinking about those is because I'm looking for something with a plain blade. I want to have some custom etching/engraving on the there, then add a nice set of scales. I'm thinking about putting together a nice customized shaving set as a gift for my son when he gets old enough to move out on his own. He's six years old now, so I'm really planning ahead.

What I'm envisioning is a pair of straights, a Norton hone, and some kind of paddle strop that will all fit into a nice wooden case that is compact and sturdy enough to travel, but nice enough to sit on his dresser.
