    Default Japanese Razor

To be honest I haven't seen a lot of Japanese Razors. I have never seen one like this. Can anyone shed some light on it? Its priced @ 85.00 so if someone wants the contact info PM me. Unfortunately I can not afford this one now.
Does this get around shaving with just one side of the blade?

Now that really looks interesting. I don't have a clue about the background of the razor though, sorry.

Unless the light is playing tricks with the photo thats not a typical shaving razor. I don't know what it is but I wouldn't buy it.

This something I was thinking about before I got up this morning
Where is the variety in Japanese razors, the Zen_ish specialization that follows through with so many other aspects of culture

Actually just about every traditional Japanese razor pretty much looks the same. There are much more variations in Western razors.

It looks more like a woodworking tool than a razor.

Its a razor! I got one just like it! My mother tells me that my particular razor was made just about the time of WW II! The handles are traditionally wrapped with bamboo like yours is! The blue handles are not traditional, but rather a modern contrivance!

Now that I look closer, I have two questions:
    1) are there two edges to that razor?
    2) are there any Japanese characters on the razor?

Looks like a nice razor, not too much honewear. It is a bit smaller than the Iwasakis and Tosukes but OTOH this one is much cheaper. For me it would all depend on the amount of rust it is worth the $$.

Look at the shadows and highlights from the light, It looks to me like it is in a V shape with an edge on each top part of the V, so I would say it is a wood workign tool.
