Alll I can tell you guys is that I have 5 Dorkos from 3/8 trough 15/16th and they blow most other razors I have tried out of the water. They take an edge like a champ and hold it for a good long while. Standard scales don't impress me as they are just means of holding the blade in most cases. I will say that the nicest scales I have on any razor were custom made scales on a W&B made for me by Vlad (SRP member) 2 years ago.

I have three Dorko's and they are all superior razors. I didn't pay nearly that much for any of them but that was a couple years ago sice I got the last one and things have been going up recently. Think of Dorko as the Double Duck of Germany. They are a company that mainly makes items for the trade and though they stopped making razors several years ago they are still very much alive making scissors and other barbering items.

I have watched their price go up and up with them. The last 15/16th Dorko I bought was like 2 years ago and only paid $65. I have bid on any Dorko that I have seen on ebay but I keep getting beat. so this time I went up more than I usually do or should.
I figure though when I average the cost out over the six Dorkos I have paid about $69 average..

I had been looking at Dorkos only for the last year or so and I had to pay over 130 for each of mine. I agree that they shave with the best of them.

I have two of them, one in Olive and one in Rosewood, very nice shavers.

Thanked: 1903So I got myself one of these. Craftsmanship is flawless. Great heft. Easy to hone, too. I like the original scales a lot better than what TI use, but that's personal preference. What I like about it most is that it shaves much like my 6/8 1/4 hollow Le Grelot, only it is bigger.
As far as "Dubl Ducks of Germany" is concerned, here is a funny little anecdote, told by an old Dovo employee: "Dubl Ducks. Yes, me made the last ones. Since they were for export, we had our trainees grind them. Of course they're easy to hone - they are simply too thin."
I think the old man has a point there. Given the choice, I would definitly go for the Dorko, not least because it delivers better value for money, what with the ridiculous prices DDs fetch these days.

He went the way of many older members. As I recall he was unemployed at the time and making boxes was keeping him afloat. Once he got a job he was gone.
We had another member, Mike Thompson who was a scale maker. He did my Dorko with mammoth scales with turquiose inlayed around the outside of the scales and moved the Dorko Insignia to boot. Fantastic Workmanship but he disappeared too.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
