First off, I'm a guitar player and I build and collect vintage guitar amplifiers(MARSHALL's and HI-WATT's) and VACUUM TUBES. Second,I rarely EVER buy anything but tubes on ebay. Finally,I've been shaving with straights since 1985-but don't usually buy vintage blades.
I can assure you that the "buck" was how YOU chose to bid. Believe me-you wouldn't have been close, I was willing to go ALOT higher. Check out the Wade&Butcher section on "Razor Clubs"-I just posted 2 of the 4 Wade&Butcher's I just got off of ebay. and yes although it was slightly chipped, it honed up real well. The scales lost some color when I put it into my ultrasonic cleaner, the blade looks NOS,no hone wear whatsoever.
And if you check SOTD, I've probably already shaved with it.
Its a small world.BASTARD,huh?
I won a BEAUTIFUL TIGER-STRIPED COTICULE (thanks CHRIS!!!) on ebay a while back. Guess what? The other bidder was a member of THIS SITE. HE sent me a PM.Last edited by Lt.Arclight; 10-28-2008 at 03:33 PM.

I figured it had to be somebody on here! No offense was meant with the bastard comment, too bad there's no way to get tone across in type. I'm glad its gonna get used, you have some great ones, I don't know why but I'm obsessed with getting a big razors since everybody started posting pics.
I met a real interesting character back in August, he's into old music stuff, specifically machines that play the instruments for you, like an automated violin, automated pianos etc. has some really obscure stuff, lives in Santa Cruz, CA.

My snipe was set to 610 € but some guy had his bid higher. A bit more than a week later I'm contacted by the seller, him saying that I can buy the item for 700€. It kinda anoyed me. Anoyed me a little bit as the person who won apparently decided to be a duchebag, causing e not to win at my bid. That or the seller really wanted more and is now offering to folks for 700.
I don't know which is the case and it doesn't really matter as I've spent my money anyhoo now.

I'm right there with hoglahoo. I typically enjoy a sigh of relief when I lose an auction. Problem is I'm too darn stubborn and never lose!

Being outbid is the only curb on my acquisition disorders

I feel your pain. Though as others here including the winning bidder have said, while he beat you by a buck, he was ready to go much higher.
On an unrelated note, I particularly like sniping for the fact that it keeps me from increasing my bid at 5 dollar increments until I finally outbid the person and end up 20 dollars over what I wanted to spend. Just "set it, and forget it!"
