Add the Dovo stainless #41 blade and I'll vote too!

Hmmm....maybe you better add the Renaissance as well. I'll vote twice, just like I did in the last election!

My idea when I posted this thread was to compare apples to apples, this is why I asked: "Which of these current Dovos is your favorite and why?". I chose 5/8 because not all of these razors are available in 6/8 (please correct me if this is not true). Also becaue I read in another old thread that because Dovos are made of fairly stiff steel, there is virtually no difference between 5/8 and 6/8 but I do not know if this is true. Perhaps this explanations would make some of the loyal 6/8 followers cast their votes now. I will probably wait for feedback a bit longer before I send my letter to Santa... ;-)

In order to pick a favorite to my way of thinking you would have to own all on your list to make that preference. In your list I only have the BL which is a very nice razor however the MOP stainless would be a very nice choice though more pricey.

Hey big, you make an excellent point, thanks. I should have thought of that... ;-) I read in another thread that the Bismarck looks better than the Special but that the Special is a better shaver..., true? So far the Bismack is winning.... with the Bergischer Lowe (BL) as a close second. My only fear about the BL is the rubber. Without it, I think that would be a sure winner for me. I love the horn handles. As for the Mother of pearl, I read that shaving with stainless steel (SS) is harder to shave with, true...? This is why there are no SS razors in the list.

The Dovo stainless 5/8 blade is about as nice a shaving razor as you'll find!

I had two Fridours (stainless) that I didn't like so much, but my two Dovo stainless razors are just about as smooth shaving as my carbon blades (vintage Sheffield is the smoothest in my opinion...)

Just bought my first Dovo, and it's not part of your list. Plus mine is a 6/8...

I guess that the BL is starting to take off, thanks for your great comments.

"he BL by far, and cut that stupid rubber thingy off the tang and let the gold shine !!!!!"

Would the blade slip without the rubber? I have been thinking about that a lot. I have one razor that has the metal grip on only one side and the blade is more prone to slippage. I would imagine that the this razor does not provide a good grip without the rubber. is this true?
