I couldn't imagine spending that much on a razor. If I did, I'd be disapointed if it didn't come in some kind of case. Even a budget priced pair of spectacles come in a nice case. I don't like to judge without knowing the vendor's side of the story, but you'd think simple pride in presentation would allow for a decent cardboard or plastic case.

There's a razor that costs $3,000.00? This thread is useless without pictures!

There's virtually no chance I'll ever spend anywhere near that much for a razor, but if I did, and it didn't come in a case of some kind, and it literally came wrapped in bubble wrap and plopped onto my counter while I excitedly emptied the contents of the box, I would stop for a second, shake my head in a confused and disgusted manner, and then proceed to rip the bubble wrap off with a fury greater than any ebay special unwrapping I've had before. I would then have the best shave of my life, take extra special care of the razor, and go on happily about my life, never to think about the packaging again.

I would think you could get at least two razors for three thousand if not three. Speaking of packaging, what gripes me is sellers, ebay or otherwise who put layers of tape all over everything making it a major PITA to unwrap the item. Some of them have layers taped within layers. I use rubber bands. Holds securely and easy to unwrap.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

If I spent more than $100 on a NEW razor, regardless of the maker, I would expect some kind of nice packaging. Even if it was a rolled in fabric and tied at both ends.
Wow! A "Winston" rod. That's a blast from my past. I have a Winston rod. I bought it when they were in San Francisco before the company was sold and moved to Montana. I had it made by Doug Merrick, the original owner(there is a chapter devoted to him in Classic Rods and Rod Makers). I have his signature on it. This was the early seventies.

Sorry to bust in on the thread, I just got excited.

I think any small, well crafted item should come in a solid case.

I would expect at least FedEx delivery in a gift wrapped box. Watches and pens at that price point come boxed. It does not say much about pride of workmanship by the maker.

A $3K razor?? I'd expect that baby to come in a Securicor armoured truck with 5 man escort!

That is exactly the reason I don't buy 3K razors. I was thinking about buying 4 or 5 just the other day and then it hit me "Christ, what am I going to do with all that bubblewrap?"
