Thread: Doesn't This Annoy You?

Disgusting. People really need to understand the importance of the little things. Sure, the box won't effect the way the razor shaves, but it certainly effects the way you perceive it.
Was it Russell Baldridge who made the hand carved leather wrapped case for his Japanese style razors?
Now THAT was some classy packaging.

Actually, I've never seen a 3 grand razor either. The most expensive razor I've ever heard about was an iwasaki with the tamahagne steel which went for about two grand.
Actually I mentioned three grand only as an illustration. The point was when you buy any custom class razor be it $400 or $1500 it should have some kind of box for storage/display with it.
Actually come to think of it didn't someone post an ad for a multi thousand dollar razor with platinum coating and damascus steel some time ago?No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

I know Livi's come in a nice wooden box. I don't have a Zowada if that's who your talking about. I agree. Any new custom or NOS razor should at the very least come in a box. Even a Dovo comes in a nice steel box.

I'll tell you what, I think it would bother me. I agree with Ray, the pelican would make me feel better, but if I had a high dollar razor, I'd want to show it to people. this would be more appropriate
Huey Custom Gun Cases -::- Huey Gun Cases and Accessories
Most guys that have fitted cases like this have a second case that is your usual tuffpak, pelican etc. cause even the case is a work of art and EXPENSIVE.
Frankly though, there are other things about a custom razor that would bother me more. If I were dishing out LOTS of money, the jimps had better be spaced regularly, cut to uniform depth, any filework on the spine had better be symemetrical and even. I see sometimes guys razor on here that were custom and there are little things like that off, things I'd expect on a mass produced blade, but not on one made specially for me. Maybe I'm too anal though. If something is just a working tool, fine, but if it is a pricey tool + show piece then I care a bit more.

Thanked: 23So you bought a 3k... 1.5k, whatever, razor and can't afford a camera to take pictures of it? Why don't you pay someone to make a wooden box for you. If you can afford the razor, then you can afford for someone to make a box for you right?
I tell you what, I'll make you a wooden razor box for only $700.00!!!

If you want a box that will be $4000. It looks like you saved a few bucks.

Thanked: 155I would never spend $3000 or even $300 for a razor. It's a tool, it should be well made, but it is still just a tool.

Hmmm, I have tools that cost way more than $300 bucks. Just kidding around, I udnerstand your point, though. I happen to disagree with it, but I understand it.
My camping knives, and every day kickaround knives, tend to be of the less expenive variety (with a few exceptions---Busse Combat--cough---). I also have some "meant to be used" customs and a couple of the really art-knife variety. Those are art...functional art some...and expensive.
I see razors the same way. I have perfectly functional (even wonderfully so!) tools that are a joy to use.
I also have some art that are just as much (and one or two that are more so) a joy to use. They are more expensive, sure, but art ain't cheap. Neither is custom work.
Don't get me started on custom flashlights....tools, yes...HIGHLY functional tools. Really stupid expensive functional tools.
