Thanked: 0Hess razor
well, I recently bought an old razor that seemed to be in reasonably good condition in an antique store, and now I can't find out what it is.
the box says "H. Boker & Co's Unrivaled Razor (Germany)"
the razor appears to be a Hess, on one side of the blade it has a 1, and next to it the HESS logo
the other side of the blade says
Hess hair milk laboratories
St. Paul Minn
Solingen, Made in Germany
I tried looking on the site listed in the other forums but I can't seem to find either of these companies
Thanks!

Welcome to SRP! That is a darn good brand you have there. It is not uncommon to find one brand of razor in another brands box. If you can post a photo some of the members can evaluate the shaving condition of the blade unless you already know.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 2209Hess is a well regarded name in the straight razor world. The #1 is one of the latest models if I recall correctly.
Hess is a distributor to the Barber & Beauty trade. They had their razors made in Germany like many other distributors.

First you have to upload onto your PC. Once you've done that click on reply in this (or any) thread and scroll down below the text box and you will see a menu that includes "manage attachments". Click on that and a window will pop up with a browse function. Click on browse and go to the directory on your PC where the chosen photo is and click "open". You will see another button that says upload. Click on that and then you can post reply.

As far as i remember Joed has picked up at least one of these on his razor related frenzied antique shop tours. I'm interested to see photo's when you've got it mastered!
