I'll bet you a nickel that I've got worse luck than you =(
Today, I am very, very sad.
I received the news today that my beloved Joe Chandler 7/8 in Carbon Fiber scales has been lost in the mail. I had sent it to Lynn for honing, but unfortunately now I'll never get to shave with it again. Yes, it had insurance, so luckily I will not lose a great deal of money because of it, but a razor like that was really a thing to behold, and now it's gone.
What's worse, is that this isn't the first time this has happened to me! In the past year, I have also lost a gorgeous 6/8 Bengall in Cocobolo restored by Max and a black handled Gillette Superspeed in the mail.
Maybe I should just start hand delivering my packages...Last edited by huntmol; 07-16-2009 at 02:05 AM.

Thanked: 317Ouch. I feel your pain.
Take it from the OP guys, ALWAYS pay for delivery confirmation and insurance. It's cheap.

There is obviously only one course of action to take. Shoot yourself...or, with the insurance money, get on the horn to chandler to make you a razor and have that razor sent to max for scales and then...
...learn to hone your own razors!
Sorry to here about that by the way.

Ouch!! You win your nickel and I really feel for you, mate! I just received my own custom by Joe (and no, it is not the same then the one which was recently lost in the mail near you..) and I was biting my fingernails bloody waiting and hoping for it to arrive (it was send from one continent to another..) I also bought honing equipment so that I can learn doing this myself and not having to send the razors out for that. Maybe you want to look into that as well, as recommended by another member's post.

That is a shame. Maybe you can get Joe to build you one special. Thanks for posting though. I have a tendency to ship valuables uninsured because I am cheap. I will not make that mistake in the future even though I've been lucky so far.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Yes, it is already similar to a system. Very badly.

Hunter, Hunter, Hunter,...
I truly feel for you. I know you had a hard time getting over the loss of your first beloved straight - Bengall.
Now this... I held my breath when I send that Robert Williams back to you after the last honing session. Glad that one made it.
I really don't know what to say. This is truly bad luck. Good thing you don't skimp on insurance but none the less it's still heartbreaking.
