Speaking of which, are griffon carbomagnetic's good shavers? Like, if I could get one for $15 but it was ugly, would the shave be worth it?
I know we've established that the magnetism isn't really any different, but are they good shavers or on par with non-magnetics, or sub-par?

Coincidentally I got a Griffon yesterday at an antique store. All it needs is a good polishing. It certainly doesn't have the magnetic power of the other razor!

You won't believe this but I just picked one up for 30 dollars at a local antique store too. It did not have any magnetism, but after all this discussion my attraction to it became irristable It actually is not half bad looking with a finger notch and shoulderless.

LOL you never know do you. Mine is a bit magnetic but not even close to the other one. I've got it polished and now I'm putting a good edge on it:-)

The Lauderjung picture I posted that was holding the other razor up easily is also one of my best shavers and holds and edge very well. I'll go so far as to say I've had to hone it less than any other razor I own. Is the quality of the steel used or does t have something to do with magnetizing the blade or a little of both. I'll probably never know for sure.
If you look at the picture it's holding the other razor by a very very small area. Not only that it will stay there even if you swing it around a bit.
    Pretty amazing either way.
One thing that helps make it a good razor is that Lauderjung is Puma!

    John,

No kidding?? I sure didn't know that. Where did you get that tidbit of info I want more--LOL! I had no idea Puma made any other brand of razors for other companies. Seriously if you have a link to some information I'd appreciate it. I see that Lauterjung made Pumas not the other way around.
Should have known it would be on our SRP site:-)

"Lauterjung & Sohn". It was handicraft manufacture.
It's older than I thought as well.
