Thanked: 0TI Special Coiffeur
I have been thinking of purchasing one these but they seem to be hard to find. An online retailer, knifecenter, has them but I have never heard of them. Anyone here know if this is the real deal? Anyone dealt with knifecenter before?

Classic Shaving has them under the name Super Gnome here. They also have them in 6/8 if you prefer a wider blade. I haven't dealt with Knife Center and I prefer to buy from a vendor that contributes to SRP.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

On another thing to consider is that Classic offers professional honing. I am not sure but I think their policy now is that all razors are shave ready when they leave but you might check on that and make sure that it is honed for you if you decide to deal with them. I have one of the Super Gnomes from them BTW and it is a darn good shaver.

Thanked: 7I bought the Super Gnome from Classicshaving.com, and it it a good shaver and came pre-honed. Just for the record though, I've bought lots of stuff over the years from Knifecenter.com and have always gotten fast service with no mistakes. I have no connection with them, other than being a satisfied customer.

Thanked: 0So is there any difference between the super gnome and the special coiffeur? Why is the knifecenter the only store that has that model? Just curious, I assume the super gnome is higher quality because of the price difference.

I'm 99% sure that one is the same as the other. TI puts different etchings on the same model depending on the vendor. The price at Knife Center is certainly more attractive than the one at Classic.
In the past I have called them when a vendor had the same razor for sale at a better price and they matched the price but added the additional cost of honing. So if you get it from Knife Center unless you hone your own you will undoubtedly have to mail it out after you get it and have it honed. OTOH, you could give Classic a call tomorrow and see if they will match the price.Last edited by JimmyHAD; 08-16-2009 at 09:12 PM.

Rasage Poulin sells the TI Special Coiffeur.
Woops... it's out of stock. His was identified as having the new Carbonsong C135 steel too.Last edited by xChris; 08-16-2009 at 07:56 PM.

Thanked: 0The price is certainly different but not that much that I wouldn't rather do business with someone I have used before. I just wanted to make sure they are the same razor. I think I will just call classic tomorrow and make sure it is the same razor.
I knew that Rasage sold them but he has been sold out for a few weeks now. He got in a shipment of TI's about a week ago but that must not have been one of them
