    Default Imperial razor, Germany

Has anyone ever run into Imperial Razors, made in Germany in the first half of the twentieth century? I was in a Mennonite gift shop in the mid sixties and was able to purchase one of these fully hollow ground razors NOS and it is one of my favorite shavers to this day. It has no shoulder and is etched "FULLY HOLLOW GROUND" with black plastic scales and a white spacer. The blade has a slight smile and is relatively easy to hone.

I bought it NOS in the coffin which was marked $3.00 which is what the nice lady charged me.. I think it was a great find.....

It was an excellent find. I have that razor, and it's great. More information can be found in our database: Category:Imperial Razor - Straight Razor Place Wiki.

+1 on seeing pictures. They do make good shavers.

+2. I have an "Imperial", but I do not know if we are talking about the same brand...

Good (or even bad) picture would really help..

I have 2 imperial razors, both of them are amazing shavers.

    Default Traskrom photo

Traskrom's photo of his IMPERIAL razor seems to be identical to my razor. The tang stamp looks identical. The only difference I can see is that his is etched "EXTRA HOLLOW GROUND" and mine is etched "FULLY HOLLOW GROUND".

I'm glad that everyone seems to agree that they are great shavers and easy to hone. If I was a razor maker, I would try to copy the design and the steel recipe.

OLD thread but I got in an Imperial with the Extra Hollow Ground on the blade like above of Traskrom- Exactly. It came in the original box with $3.00 price tag. Never been honed. Ever. Was so shiny the manufacturer must have really polished it. I honed it and shaved with it twice so far. Incredible shaver!! When you run the blade edge along your thumbnail you can see the raise of the edge that is even all along the way. I kid you not, it was about the newest old razor I have ever seen, save that one I got that had a crack in the blade (from same guy - his Father's estate/collection).

On the right side it said it was made in Germany. Does anyone know who the maker in Germany was? When I get a chance I'll have to upload some pics of it. Cost me under 5.00 and an incredible shave!

Where the heck do you guys find NOS razors like this!? Everything I find is as rust as....well, rust. I found one or two in decent shape, but nothing even close to NOS.

Antique shops? Barber shops? Back of a truck? Am I looking in the right places!?

    Also....really nice blades there.
