Thanked: 199Gotta agree with ChrisL...I haven't tried enough to make that call.
But just for now, with the few I've tried, I would say my Dubl Duck Satinedge. Closest, smoothest shave I've had yet.

Thanked: 4Miner123,
How dare you even contemplate such an atrocity. For your punishment you shall shave with a rusty hacksaw blade for the next week with only cold water.
You still get the water because you could have made it worse by suggesting that we would all have to go to mach 3's

I suspect most all will have to agree with ChrisL if being honest. I've given up trying to ID a single shaver as best. The only real variable for me is the hardness of the metal. Aside from that, anything that fulfills the following comprehensive list of requirements will wind up on my face at some point regardless of cosmetics, scales, or maker's mark...
6/8 to 8/8 wide
Wedge to half hollow grind
Sharp and smoothed out edge
Yup that about takes care of a full description for me!
Man, I used to be a snob and only wanted pretty new razors. Now I find that as long as those 3 requirements above are met I fall in love with the blade after the first shave. I'm constantly surprised at how may great shavers I'm finding that are essentially "no-name" and deliver incredibly smooth shaves. The word of great shavers got a whole lot less expensive and wide once I realized that the grind and width were really all I needed after Sham was nice enough to teach me how to hone to his standards.
I've thought about trying out a knife in my tackle box for shaving because it looked like it might be a wedge and is just under 8/8... Still thinking about it... maybe a few layers of tape and some time on the Escher... :-)

A little off topic but Rhys are you in southeast WY? The temp is dropping like a rock down here, it's supposed to start snowing in a few hours, and not get above freezing until Sunday. If the wind is howling up there and you get part of this storm you may be stuck indoors for a while! Be a good time to hone up a hacksaw just to see if you can get it shave ready. :-) ...nah, dude don't try it!

If I could have only one razor my choice would be to remedy that situation ASAP
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Of my current razors (Le Grelot 1/4, Filly #14 Especial, Filly#13 Doble Temple, J.Breidohr Les+++Croix, Henckels Friodur, Palmera #14), and if you put a gun to my head... I'd probably choose the Le Grelot, but then I haven't used the Palmera much yet -- waiting for it to get back to me from Max. So in a few weeks I'd probably say something different... Yeah, it's not possible to choose now that I think about it. I like the Filly #13 a lot, too... And the the other Filly. But the Friodur is really smooth, too...

If I had to chose just one razor, it would have to be my HD Rocket. Sigh... Yes, I know it's a DE. But if I could only have one, I would have to account for those times when I simply don't have enough time to shave with a straight.
Now, if I could have two, then my second would be a DublBokerW&BDovoFriodurTIHart high carbonSS01Sheffield in 5/8/6/8/7/8.
That should work just fine.

Thanked: 4Aircolorado,
I'm in Wheatland, just about an hour north of Cheyenne. Been snowing here all day. Just blew out my sprinkler lines this afternoon. It was about 26 degrees at 2:00 this afternoon and I figured I should get after it. I-25 is closed from Cheyenne to the state line as I understand, and cars are sliding off the interstate with pretty good regularity. As far as I'm concerned it can go ahead and keep this up into the beginning of next week. My elk season opens on Thursday morning and this will push them down out of the higher elevations a bit.
