guys i'm soooo sorry! For some reason I forgot the name of this thread and it took me a while to find it. Anyways, I got bogged down with massive term papers for my classes and haven't had a chance to send along the razor. Sorry!!!!!

I found a great video by JimR (http://straightrazorpalace.com/video...first-try.html) that i used to learn to shave with it. I really do like the handle situation. It feels less unwieldy than a western razor. I also like how light it is. I've read on the forums that you are supposed to strop it just like a western razor, but for some reason it felt weird to do that with the curved razor. It wasn't very sharp when i got it, but it shaved alright. a bit of tugging, but that's what happens with a not too sharp razor.

The one-sided shaving was weird to get used to. I had to keep reminding myself. I also liked how the edge was shorter than western style razors. since my face has a lot of concave areas to shave, a shorter blade is easier to maneuver and get those pesky hairs. Still, i probably would have appreciated it more if it were perfectly sharp. I think i'll work on perfecting my technique with a western style razor before trying to buy a japanese razor. It was great to have the experience though.

When the next guy gets the razor evaluate it and we'll see what the sharpness level is and if it needs honing contact me and we'll discuss.

Yay! It's getting closer! I suspect it'll arrive from Richmondesi stinking of fine tallow soaps...

Will do. If it were a western razor, I'd have no trouble honing it myself. However, if it needs a touchup, I'll either want to send it back to you or at least get a bit of a lesson on any differences that I need to account for.

well, you don't have to, looks like there's plenty of people who do.
i like shaving with mine and one of them is on its way to a friend to try it out.

I have been playing tag with the postmen. The first delivery attempt was Dec 24th and no one was here (Tampa) to sign for because I was still in TN per my original message to thebigspendur.

I did not arrive at the Tampa address until Tuesday evening.

SO, I signed the signature card and placed it in the mailbox (just in time it will be sent back to the previous gent if delivery is not successful by Fri) hopefully it will arrive today.

Dan, if that does happen message me with your paypal address after you resend it and I will reimburse you for the cost of both shipping fees. Sorry for any confusion and or difficulty.

Hopefully I will receive the razor soon and be able to brag about my first shave with Japanese straight!
