Thanked: 1903Just as an aside, and to prove how pointless the question of "best razor" is: I recently treated myself to this Hess Hair Milk Laboratories "99" 6/8 - Straight Razor Place Wiki (on which, apparently, Glen and Lee had worked magic even before it was touched by the hand of Max). And I went "hmmm... if it weren't for the scales, I could swear it was a Hans." Those vintage blades are sometimes quite close with regards to the ways they shave. Very, very close. At the end of the day, so much depends on your personal preference that your idea of a "best razor" may change over very short periods of time. At least for me it does.

Thanked: 1903Just to make sure, you did read the thread at the end of the review? Because that razor is certainly not what you want.

Thanked: 2591I have 6/8, and 7/8 like them both. Definitely went away from 5/8 because I like to feel the heftiness of the blade a little.

Thanked: 1903That depends on what you want to achieve, and what your level of experience is. See also the point on this in the Frequently Asked Questions.
