Of those two I like the TI but the Dovos are good too. I just happen to like the style of some of the TIs. The steel as well. That latest Silverwing with the French point and rams horn scales is lovely and mine shaves great. The Spartacus with the bone scales, barber's notch and worked spine is killer too.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

+1 on the TI. Dovo also makes some nice stuff. Depends on your pocket book. You can get a Mastro Livi Damascus for over 1000.00 You can get a Bergisher Lowe (Dovo) for about 200.00 more of less. Both are top notch. I guess the "best" is subject to debate here. Many would say the customs, Williams, Livi, Earl, Zowada, etc...

Well, you can't have the best one! It's mine!

As with most things here, it really depends whatever you like - there's differences in size, grind, finish and materials. You could ask 100 people and get 100 different answers. What do you want in terms of the razor? Do you seek good shave, wow effect of beauty, or just price tag to impress?

I think everything is catered by current manufacturers, not to speak about the custom makers. You could order one with all the bells and whistles you want.

for me best is a razor that holds a good edge, well priced, easy to hone, im not very interested in the wow factor. just want a solid razor, i only have a filly at the momeny but looking for another.

If you just want a very solid, quality razor that will get the job done, for value I don't think you can beat the Dovo Best Quality. They retail new and shave ready from SRD for about $70, and with the deals they are running right now you can't beat the value for money. Anything more than that and you are (largely) paying for frills like point, name, gold wash, high end scales, etc.

When i get the money you'll be seeing the Robert Williams Custom Straight Razor in my Rotation! From your comments I would say get another Filly...They are a top shelf shaver.....

Two other brand names that stand out to me for smooth besides Filarmonica are C-MON and Hess....but they are hard to find in good shape...

The best razor is which ever razor I happen to be holding at any given time. I think what you want is the second best razor.
