Thanked: 19I need help and suggestions with a custom 7 day set
Hi Gents. Well I have decided to order myself a custom 7 day set from TI. I will need some ideas. I am decided to use legal ivory for scales, both sides mirror-polished, 1/4 grind, 7/8 blade with worked spine. I am now trying to decided on the following things before I place my order:
1. Blade tip.. I am thinking at spanish tip aka spike tip.
2. I have the option to put my own writing in goldwash on the blade so any short ideas will be highly appreciated.
This set will be the "masterpiece" of my small collection so I will not say that I know the best with this one and this is why I am asking for different opinions. Please let me know any suggestions of any kind. Cheers

1. As you wish, they'll be your pride and joy so…
2. My attitude to gold wash is, if you want to use the set, avoid, it'll just be a pain to care for. If you just want to display them, go for it.

Any chance you could get the day of the week goldwashed on the face? I think that would be pretty incredible along with the day etched in the spine.
Just my 2 cents.
Oh, and I would go French Point

If it was my order I would ask to see options for a spine with the days of the week on top and whatever designs are available fore and aft. I don't think I would want any gold wash at all nor any etching on the blade other than the spine.
For the point a notch as in the Spartacus reissue or a Spanish. Something wicked looking. Legal ivory is beautiful. If that was a problem in terms of customs I might go with elk or ram's horn.
I would for sure want a wooden case rather than a soft roll up to house it in. Really neat that you are going for it. I bet it will be gorgeous when you finally have it in hand.Last edited by JimmyHAD; 11-18-2009 at 08:47 PM.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 2591I like Spanish point, is bad a$$.
I am not a fan of the gold wash, I'd rather have the blade engraved, or plain.
Worked back is awesome but if you can get them to do something other than Festoned back it will be awesome imo.Stefan

Just for the record... I'm not a gold wash fan either, but I thought you had said you wanted it so I threw out my best idea.

Why do not you engrave/gold wash them with the word "Masterpice"?
(you will be able to say you have true TI's masterpieces!Last edited by sparq; 11-19-2009 at 03:02 AM.
