Metropol 7 day set
I recently acquired a 7 day set as a gift found at an antique fair by a family member. These are vintage, of which year I am unsure, although my guess is from around the 30s-50s. I hope a more knowledgeable member will correct me.
These came in a beautiful leather case, which looks to be crocodile.
On the tang is METROPOL SPECIAL, a brand which I am unfamiliar and can find virtually no information, other than a SOTD pic in google of a black handled equivalent.
Initially I was a little unsure of what to make of them until I found 'Germany' in faint lettering within a circle on the reverse of the tang.
I honed one up on a coticule and it was a super shave! One of the nicest hollows Ive used! And Im not even a big fan of hollows, but Im looking forward to my next shave with it.
Best thing about the set? It was completely unused. They had been factory sharpened and thats it, they all still had their original paper on them as can be seen on the 6/8 blades.
Anyway, I thought I'd share and hopefully find out some more about these blades. Shame about the scales. Im really not a fan of plastics! Maybe Ill have them all custom handled in horn. When I win the lottery.

Excellent find! I agree about the scales mind you It's better to have ordinary scales but great shaves than fancy scales but a rubbish shave I suppose.
They'll look great in horn.Very nice case.

I *think* and could be wrong, but I think they were made by Baurmann out of Solingen. If they were they will be excellent shavers.

Monopol is one of the brands of the Friedr. Baurmann & Sohne.. I bought the last of the straight razors they had in 2004 and sold them on eBay and at my original web site. Kurt - the guy who owns Baurmann now - is an interesting character. He spent five years in Algeria including the four years of the Algerian War. He participated in the Foreign Legion mutiny and was banished to the desert with the other members of the Legion who participated. He doesn't speak a word of English and I do not speak any German so I communicated with him through online translator programs.
