How dare you call yourself a razor!
So my mom knows I use straights and she bought me a Gillette fusion for christmas because it had a redskin symbol on it which is the team I like (I know they suck!) So I figured what the heck I'll go ahead and try it sence Iv never used a saftey razor and started with a straight and I didn't like using a saftey razor AT ALL! It didn't feel like I was shaving, it felt like I was rubbing plastic on my skin. It was uncomfortable. I'll stick with my straights

HAHAHA, I hear you man. My brother had to buy razor blades again last week. He says they burn like $&^% after about 4 shaves, but at $4 per cartridge he can't afford to change it as often as he needs to.

Yup. This.
This is pretty much why I'm going to try switching to straights. Those crappy, crappy blades. I don't care if you have a hundred of them on a single head, it doesn't make them suck less.
How on earth can I justify spending 15 bucks on something that will only give me a handful of decent shaves? The result of my refusal to waste money on garbage means I've had the same cartridge for way, way too long. But what difference does it make, if it feels as crappy as it does now, months later, after just a few shaves?
</rant>
Carry on.

Oh, and Zach,
Be glad you didn't learn on one of those things. They teach bad habits like: Shave as fast as humanly possible while stripping the first layer of skin from your face.

Hey, why not make a special place for it in the bathroom as a decoration. It would look nice please her if she should happen to see it. After all it is your team.

It's kinda funny -- we all talk about how economical it is to shave with straights, but we end up spending small fortunes to support our respective Acquisition Disorders. I've spent enough money on razors, strops, hones, etc., to have purchased a large warehouse full of disposable blades.

Thanked: 530Unfortunately, you're right >.> ... I quit using a Gillette Fusion 'cause the cartridges cost too much... In the first month or two, I'm down 150$ on razors, and 250$ on strops, then another 40$ to get some Castle Forbes samplers and a tub of TOBS. Not to mention a 20$ Amazon special Badger Brush... And I still have a list of "To-Get"s growing....

Well for me at least... it is a search for the right stuff. I found my brush, I have my wonder soaps, I (hopefully) have my perfect razor in the works, now I just need to get a really nice strop and a Coti...

Although established cutthroat users know that the shave is superior to multi-blade cartridges, one often sees a post from someone who is taking up cutthroat shaving with the intention of saving money. Many of us spend enough money on shaving paraphernalia to buy a lifetime's supply of disposable razor blades.
