Wacker or TI?
Hello, MasterMind.
Yes, that's the one. Mine has white bone scales. It is perfectly balanced with good heft — and I have small hands. It not only gives me a glorious shave, but it is also a beautiful razor. Once or twice a week I still take it out of the rack and just look at it.

Obie

Thanked: 0it does look very nice. it isnt in stock. would you recommend this TI over the wackers? the TI is half hollow by the way. i dont have much experience with any str8's so i have no clue what hollow to go with. i guess starting off at a half hollow isnt that bad. i have a feeling the full hollows are harder to shave with. is that true?

Wacker or TI?
Hello again, MasterMind.
Thank you for your note. I hesitate to recommend a razor to anyone, because we're dealing with a profoundly personal item. Variables that prevent such recommendations include taste, blade preference, price, beard heft, and so on.
Also, as a straight razor pilgrim who is far from an expert, I don't feel I am qualified to make a sound recommendation.
In my modest razor collection, I have 6 Thiers-Issards of various size and model and 2 Wackers of different models. You can see my special fondness for the Thiers-Issard. If I were making a recommendation to myself in this case, I would select this particular Thiers-Issards over my Wackers, although both brands are fine razors.
Another thing: the extent of a razor's hollowness makes no effect on my shave. There, too, I feel the variables come into play. An expert might feel otherwise, in which case, I would opt for his opinion rather than mine.
Regards,
Obie

I can't say about the TI's as I don't own any. However I do own and use 2 Wacker's. Both are very nice razors and can give a very good shave. Also I will say this about the Wacker's, the steel seems very hard and the edge needs to be honed by someone who knows there stuff otherwise its hard to get them to respond by mere stropping. I seem to need to use my pasted strops more with the Wackers then with my other razors ( Dovo's ).

Wacker or TI?
My dear Jimk,
Thanks for bringing up the point on the Wackers having hard steel. I forgot to mention that in my posts.
You are so right. Yes, the Wackers do have a harder steel. Although mine are professionally honed, I strop them more laps, both canvas and leather, and any other razor I own.
Excellent point. Thank you.
Regards,
Obie

Wacker! Definitely. I have a TI as well, and although they are not bad, they do have sometimes QA issues.

The answer is obvious, Grasshopper:
Get both! ...and then get more!

Mastermind,
What are you using now for a razor ? and do you hone your edges or send it out
