Just shaved with the Wade & Butcher, what a shave. I went directly from 12K Naniwa to the strop. Just got some Tabac in and used it for the first time as well. Nice stuff. I haven't shaved with such a heavy blade before and this thing just plows through the rough stuff with ease. I noticed that there is a lot less feedback thru the blade due to the weight and absolutely no flex. A person could get in trouble in a hurry if you weren't paying attention! No nics, just bbs. Now for the big boy. I'll probably hone it up today and maybe give him a run tomorrow.

I'm smiling even more now & haven't even started on the "prize".

Excellent! What a steal, and a great looking razor to boot!

    Congrats

From the 12k to a pasted strop, or just 12k to leather

12K to leather. Thought about the pasted strop, but took a chance & it paid off. I usually do include crox pasted strop, then leather.

I'm just trying to figure out people's honing methods... Currently I'm gravitating to one of two things... 12k finisher, pasted, strop done

    or barber hone, leather, done

Step 1: Take bullet from between blade and scales.
Step 2: Place in revolver cylinder
Step 3: Point revolver at little toe
Step 4: Squeeze (don't pull) trigger
Step 5: Send me address of antique shop so I can make the 30 hour drive from northern VA to northern TX and get my hands on a few of those AMAZING finds while you're hobbling around and unable to beat me there.

Honestly Shooter, those are some AWESOME finds - be sure to enjoy them for all of us.

Unfortunately, the few finds I've made in antique shops up here so far have been painfully overpriced instead of wonderfully underpriced. For example, an Wm. Greaves & Sons 6/8 wedge with okay blade and completely shot scales for $50 firm... or a thrice nicked Soligen blade (can't remember maker, so it obviously wasn't a standout name) for $200 just because it had a gold wash design on it and scales they thought were ivory but were actually faux-ivory plastic.

Did the 9mm +P come with the blade?
If not, you got ripped off.

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

Hang on!! N.E. Texas? Antique shop 100 miles away? You better not be sneaking over the border and snagging Okie razors!!

Hope the other one shaves as well as the first.

My normal routine is 12K, pasted, strop, shave. Haven't picked up a barber hone & really don't plan on it unless one falls into my lap like those two SR's. They are TX razors btw, I stay out of OK as much as I can. Same shop had a broken Heckels that a vendor wanted $49.95 FIRM. I wouldn't have given $.49 for it.

I KNOW I got lucky, thus having to brag a little!!
