    Cool

On the third shave. It shaves so nice that I'm afraid to take my hones to it. Getting better with each shave. I still think I got lucky and the person honing that day in the factory did a nice job!

My other Dovo was sharpened by Lynn, so I know a sharp razor when I use one....

I broke the seals on it so I know no one else touched it.

    Default First Dovo Inox

    Hello, Jeff:

If the noble Lynn honed your Dovo, then you have a gem of a shaver.

    Regards,

    Obie

    JeffEgg2,

The 41 & 105 Dovo blades have been, for me, quite exceptional shavers

They are as easy to hone as carbon steel blades, and take a lovely edge.

    Glad you like yours

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

Great blade Jeff, I have one myself, It will benefit from a touch up if your using a factory edge, perhaps some paste...?...However, if your happy with the shaves your getting, then leave it alone until you feel the need....

    Enjoy.....

    JohnG10,

Yup, the #105 is the blade used on the EnVogue (Micarta).

I sold my #41 before I got the #105s, so the comparison is made from memory !

Both in the shave, and WRT maintenance, For me, I found there was not much, if any, difference between the two blade types.

The swirls on the 'ice tempered' #105 look very nice, but shave wise, the #41 & #105 were virtually identical

I don't know if any persons knowledgeable in metallurgy could comment whether the 'ice tempering' makes a deal of a difference or not - (is this the same process that Henckel used on the Friodurs ?).

For me, both the #41 & #105 blades are excellent shavers

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

Ok, tried to improve the blade.

about 80 on the shapton glass 16k
    100 on the diamond paste
    80 on the crox.
50 linen and 100 leather strops.

Perhaps some improvement, but not by much.

I'm curious about the difference in the hardness between this Dovo Stainless and the "Ice hardened" ones? Anyone know on the hardness scale?

I am a newbie to straight shaving and am awiating my Dovo Inox, the one with the ice swirls. Heard that stainless blades make for harder work in keeping them sharp but once sharp stay that way longer which i figured would be a good idea as a beginner so I do not have to learn honing so fast. I hope I got a good blade and would be curious to hear how other users feel about the Dovo Inox. Is this a blade I will be happy with for some time or is it something I will want to upgrade once I get better?

I bought it from Straight Razor Designs and so it should be honed by Lynn and I also get a second free honing. About how many shaves are gotten between honings? IE how long do I get before having to get serious about learning that as well?

Is the 105 the Micarta blade ?
Do you notice any differences between the 41 blade and the micarta blade ?

    Thanks.
