    I just watched a vid of a guy showing off his collection and he stated that the early 1800 and 1700 razors did not have the tang/monkey tail. He had at least two in his display case that looked similar to yours but not gold washed.

    I wonder if this isn't a display piece never meant to be used (since I can't see honing it without thrashing the gold).

    I'll see if I can dig up that vid...for all I know it might be some one on SRP.

    Start paying attention around 3:10 in. Might not be what yours are, this guy might not know his stuff, but it's the only time I've seen a tang-less razor before.
