Thanked: 220I don't cut anything but face hair with my straight razors, I value them too much. Although I did cut up my first strop pretty good.

When I was in elementary many moons and several continents ago we used DE blades, that we freely bought in the corner store at the sweet age of six or seven, to sharpen pencils. So much so that someone came up with a holder that you could buy at the same store - but nobody did. I favored Wilkinson, because they were shinny, but the common ones were blue Gillette. Incidentally, we called them all Gillette, which infuriated my grand father who called them "shaving sheets".
I've used a Chinese razor looking instrument for opening boxes, but it isn't all that great for it.Last edited by Snake; 04-08-2011 at 11:18 AM.

Thanked: 18Apart from shaving I have used a straight-razor to...
...pick apart stitching on a piece of clothing.
...slice open packaging on stuff that was vacuum-sealed in plastic.
...cut string.

Years ago, when I was young I used my Ucle warren's staight to skin a badger I killed. If I remember, he was not totally pleased with that. He had to hone it and strop it all over again.

I was born with nothing and managed to keep most of it.

I've cut a new towel when wiping a razor. My wife told me she'll throw all my razors if I do it again!
