Feather Artist Club SS-first impression.
A package from Japan came with the mailman today, with the help of a member on another forum I was able to buy the SS which currently is sold in Japan only.
It's similar to the other Artist series, but with a different head design. I haven't tried the DX or RG, both those who have tried both, says the SS is more forgiving, and finding the right angle is easier.

Opening the package the first I see is a bonus pack of Feather Pro Guard blades, nice!

Blade loading is super easy, the head is spring-loaded and you just squeeze it at the top and a blade drops right in, also very easy to take apart for cleaning after the shave.

Having used a Parker Shavette before, I was kinda vary, as I know how they can bite you. I find using regualr straight razors is quite a bit more forgiving than a Shavette.
However, the blades is the Feather is rounded at the ends, so there's way less chance of them nicking you, like half a DE blade in a Shavette can, huge difference.
The KAI blade is very smooth, I found the shave very pleasant.
The SS seems very well built, it's all stainless steel except for the scales obvisouly, very positive feel handling it. A bit slippery though, but not problematic. Using my alum block for better grip helped a lot.
As the blades are supposed to last for 5-7 shaves each, my three packs of blades will last me a looong time.
All in all I'm very happy with it, and it will be an welcome addition to the straight razor rotation :001_smile Great for travel as well.

Hello, Blix:
Congratulations on the Artist Club SS. It's an impressive razor. I have the Artist Club DX, but the SS looks more sleek, like a race car next to a sedan. Indeed, the Japanese have come up with a fine straight razor with replaceable blades.

Obie

Thank you Obie. Yeah I'm very impressed with it, also with the KAI blades, not as scalpel sharp as Feather and more forgiving, well just judging by comparing them a little. I'll do a full shave with a Feather Professional Super next time I use it, but I suspect I will stick with the Kai's.

I have a Feather Artist DX and I am jealous of your SS. How much was that thing? Is it pretty easy to find in Japan? Cause I'll just have a buddy ship me one. :-)

And my second shave with it was exceptional really, very smooth yet deadly sharp, ATG was easy as gliding through butter.
One of my best shaves yet.

I found the SS better when shaving my head but the weight of the blade part of the RG better in shaving my face.
