    Default Hart Steel razor

Pulled the trigger on a Hart Steel razor about two months ago and have hit it with about twelve shaves. Really like this razor. I got a 6/8 satin finished round point with jimps and the basic black scales from Classic Shaving.

The razor is really heavy with a sweet extended tang. I think the workmanship is excellent. The factory edge was very good, certainly shave ready (shaved twice with it), but I ended up hitting it with my "normal" routine and brought the edge to what I'm used to: finished with Naniwa 12k with some laps on balsa and chro ox and finally a few laps on felt with .25 micron diamond spray. This steel takes a fantastic edge.

The shaves are awesome. The near wedge grind is stiff and quiet, but being so sharp, glides through tough chin beard. I really like ATG with this razor. For my skill level at least (about a year of straights), I find a stiffer grind is easier with ATG passes.

It's really cool that an American company is putting out these razors. Great product.

You guys are killing me with these posts praising the Hart Steel. Every now and again I go onto the site and drool a bit. One of these days I'm going to go for a 6 or a 7/8 square point with jimps top and bottom. Right now the spirit is willing but the wallet is weak.

    Hey Guys,
I just pulled the trigger and purchased a Hart Steel 6/8", Polished Finish, Square Point w/Black scales; I couldn't resist the $30 price reduction over @ Classicshaving.com. Can't wait to get it!...I've read so many positive reviews and I like heavier razors, especially as a DE shaver, I wanted to give this a try.
