It will still turn out to be a nice 7/8 Filarmonica which is still a decent size blade. Just be careful as it's very thin and the last thing you wanna do is make the chip worse or add a crack.

Thanked: 4942Take off the 1/8 inch, lightly buff the back side, hone and use the razor in good health.
Have fun.

There really are no options. Hone out the chip. On the bright side, It is a Fily 14, a nice wide blade, so the loss in width should be negligible.
We have assumed control !

Thanks guys!
It was just as I feared, but at least I have comfort in the consensus of others more experienced than me.
The worst senario would have been to lose the 1/8th only to find I could have done something different.
Thanks Maximillian I will be very careful in removing that chip. The blade is so thin its incredible. It moves almost like gold leaf when lightly touched with a fingernail.
When I am ready to tackle this (I still have items en route to me) I will post pics to update the razors progress...hopefully with good results.
Thanks again for sharing your valued experience

Just an update.
I have cleaned her up but decided to sell it without removing the 1/8 th or so.
I have lost some of the gold wash in the process.
The greatest pity is that it has never been shaved with. Everything else is perfect so it would have been NOS
This was the condition in which I bought it...........you can only take what comes your way right?
Saludos
ps there are some very helpful members here waiting for payment for some beautiful hones:
