Man I feel like such a wimp with my 6/8. I guess I'll just call it "fun size" from now on...NO not that, my razor!

Thanked: 22Joed,
Intriguing, what country does your "Kama" orginate? Solingen, Deutschland? Also, I want to thank all you guys. If there was ever a large amount of supporting evidence to buttress an argument, this is it. Not that I was trying to argue anything, I really just find the big guys to be such great shavers. So, score one for the big fellas!

Thanked: 8848/8 tapering to 6/8 Frederick Reynolds
Honed by me on old hand me down stones and stropped on an old hand me down strop.
I love it.
For the days when I don't feel like heavy lifting, I use this little darlin'
7/8 W&B honed silky smooth by SirStropAlot. It was honed after that pic was taken. Howard did a HELL of a job straightening out a pretty rough edge.

Wow...the Dovo BQ 5/8 and the Geneva 9/16 seem so... inadequate now.
Wonder what's on the Bay today......

I suppose these two are the largest blades I've shaved with:
A Mastro Livi Snake razor, about 17/16, but in reality it is abnormous
Here's my 10/8 Marshes and Shepherd. Weight forward...
Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

The only advantage larger blades have for me is that they hold more lather before needing to be wiped off. My razors in the 4/8's to 6/8's range shave every bit as good as my larger blades. If you are just going for a great shave you do not need a monster razor to get there.

As long as the edge of a decent razor is sharp size does not matter... really what it all about is how much heavy lifting do you want to do early in the morning. some days you want to take a little sporty model like a 4/8 boker red injun 100, other days your want an 8/8 wedge to mow for you, not really sure why you need anything bigger than that ,unless you are compensating. 'nuff said.
Be just and fear not.

Thanked: 22Wullie...I love that 7/8 W&B!!! My first razor I bought in an antique shop in the early-mid 90s was a 6/8 W&B. She's still with me [what's that 'ol saying "you never forget your first love] and I shaved with her sometime last Fall, for old times sake. If I recall, it was a smoothy. Ahhhh, now wouldn't it be nice if all the ladies in our life would be so accommodating.
