Thanked: 2I did shave # 10 this mornig with my professional (8 face, 2 head) still going strong. I do have a pretty thick beard so if it gets me through Thursday morning, I'll be happy. It is getting a little not as sharp- I dont want to say dull because it isnt, just not as sharp as the first shave. I have found that the first shave with a new blade you have to be very careful because they are ridiculously sharp. I got this after 2 straights, and a shavette. I dont know if I want to go back to straights since I am kinda lazy that way.

I use the Super Pro blades in my Feather and get really good results with them for many shaves. I'm a little embarrassed to say that I have no idea how many shaves I can get from a blade, but it's quite a few....maybe 20-30?
I have never counted because I don't use the razor consistantly and I would have to keep a log.....not likely to happen.

WARNING
The Super blades are wicked sharp!
I recommend not switching too much between your regular straight and the Feather. The feel is entirely different and not readily adapted between shaves. I have several WEEPERS now after alternating between my regular straights (very forgiving) and the Feather (entirely unforgiving). This is not to say that I am discouraged from using the Feather. I have just concluded that even a very experienced user should elect to use the Feather for a week without alternating the razor into your regular rotation. The touch is much softer than with a regular straight. Forget that fact for one moment and you will get a weeper. The Feather demands respect and when given will reward the user with an exceptional shave on par with any of my other straights.

Off topic but wouldn't you be able to strop the feather series? I never owned one but it seems like you would be able to.

Question for the users of the non-folding version: What do you do "post shave"?
My two questions would be cleaning and how do you protect that blade for the next shave?
thanks...

I always get out the blade and clean it under hot water and then carefully run the blade over a towel to remove water and residue. After every shave I turn the blade around so all parts of the edge get used. I leave the blade in and have made a holder from wood, I'm going to make a picture of it today and post but until then do a google on "kamisori display" and you see several useful ideas.

I lay down a blue shop towel for every shave where I can set the razor between passes. When I finish I use it to dry the disassembled head and blade. Occasionally, I will spritz it with some alcohol, then let it air dry and reassemble for the next shave. The mostly dry shop towel is then used to wipe down the sink area then tossed in the trash. The misses really appreciates that.

I'm now on shave #28 with my Pro-Guard equipped Feather SS. My post-shave routine is just to wipe the razor off and put it away. My blade is still cutting very nicely, whiskers that is.
