I'll just voice my opinion again that I think a "SRP-logo razor" really should look like the razor in the logo.. A basic production model with the logo on the scales isn't really what I think folks are interested in here. So if Hart Steel are open to a small production run using my logo-razor design then I think that's a pretty cool idea.
Also I want to mention, that because I designed the razor in the logo to actually be made someday, I designed it as a CAD shape (vector paths) with the intention that I would have it water-jet cut at some point... So... I would be more than happy to supply the actual CAD file to whichever outfit was going to take this on, and that way they could have the blanks water-jet cut to truly have the profile of the razor in the logo.
Glen mentioned earlier that he felt the proportions were a bit out in the design, however apart from the long monkey tale and broad thumbnotch, I did design the razor with it being a working razor in mind, not a fantasy razor - But so with some more insights as to what Glen meant, I could tweak the profile a wee bit if it is agreed that such tweaks are needed.
Alternatively to the Hart Steel idea, and this is just thinking out loud - but instead of approaching one custom maker to take up the whole challenge, how about we have the profiles cut (to the number of folks who've paid upfront) and then a certain number of the blade blanks handed over to a selection of our custom razor makers to grind and finish the blades (and add an embellishment of their own style) - that way we spread the work out so more custom blades can be made. It also celebrates the various talented custom razor makers we have and is sort of a community effort in a way...
So there would be a 'Lewis SRP razor', 'Bob Allman SRP razor', 'Brian Brown SRP razor', 'Max Sprecher SRP razor', 'Boxer SRP razor' etc. etc. The scales could even be made by another artisan who specializes in just making scales. I personally like this sort of collaboration work and I think it would really make the project quite unique.
Perhaps too adventurous an idea I know, but like I said I'm just thinking out loud.
Cheers,
- Mike

I would love an exact copy of the SRP Logo Razor.
I've always loved the shape.
7/8 would be my preference for size and I would be agreeable to up-front payment (although I may have to do by instalments).
I'd even like one with a 'Dreadnought' point if it were an option.
I'm not sure which grind I would like the best, though. (I like both wedge and full hollow....mmmmmmmm)

I would love an exact copy or very close to it of the SRP Logo Razor.
happy for tweeks to make it a ballanced every day shave if view needed.
7/8 quarter grind would be my preference.
SRP logo on the tang to keep the blade clean.
small logo on scales if one at all as the blade is the show piece here.

Thanked: 88So far, the most popular design response is "Identical to the current SRP logo with smiling blade (spine/edge)", while the most popular price option is $200 or less. As others have said, this needs to be reconciled. Even the production razor I mentioned with a somwhat similar blade shape is significantly over $200. My Hart Steel razor also cost significantly over $200.

We have a long way to go before this is anything but speculation. A package deal is generally discounted by volume so between $200 and $300 USD may be feasible when all is said and done. I think the administration of SRP will be watching this poll with interest. As far as the razor being identical to that on the logo, that is my preference but we'll have to see what is doable from a cost analysis ..... if the proposal ever comes to fruition at all. I've got my fingers crossed.

It's really pretty elementary here. If you engage a large outfit like Dovo or TI they will probably want a minimum order and the number will be such the price will have to be low which limits the choice to something most may not want. On the other hand to have a razor like in the logo means a custom job and few will want to participate because of the price. I'm sure no matter the price there will always be takers but that may leave a bad taste in the mouths of members. Maybe a solution would be two razors, a high end and low end. This could go many ways or no way. We'll see.
Just so you all know, at this point there has been no serious discussion among the staff. The first step is your indication of participation here.

While there are a substantial number who will settle for .... or maybe prefer .... a standard round or square point, there is already a round point TI SRP razor and whatever the Livi limited was. I've got the TI but not the Livi so I don't know. I think it would really be cool to have the mirror image of the razor in the SRP logo.
My guess is many of those who voted the other way would get the logo razor if that is what it ends up being. TBH I'm hoping Hart gets the contract. I don't have one and there is nothing they make that 'calls to me' so an SRP limited by Hart would give me the motivation to add one to my rotation. Variety is the spice of life.

I would love a large smiling blade! But that sounds expensive, and as a 22 year old college student, a high cost razor would be prohibitive. So I would definitely prefer an affordable blade.
