I've seen many different rare razors ...
Possibly, some of them only on the pictures.
Some not rare, but interesting razors. IMO.
Mappin & Webb, Sheffield.
Thomas Lamb, Washington City.
Ignaz Rösler, Nixdorf,Bohemia.
Albanese B.S. Co "Little Rhody", Germany.

Anybody ever seen one of these?
Picked this up on eBay last year. I've only seen the maker mentioned once or twice in the SRP archives, and no one seems to know anything about it. The tang stamp says "COURDUFF."
This razor looks to be in exceptionally good condition: polished steel, clean natural bone scales. Maybe late 19th century? I keep it in my display case but have not had the intention of shaving with it.
Anyone have any insight? Sure would like to know.

Do you have any idea what steel was used Ignaz Rosler blade? Just curious because Czechoslovakian Poldi steel seemed pretty good when used to make Brno guns. Just love the look of that razor BTW.

BobH, good question.
I can't say for sure, it's Swedish steel or Poldi steel from Kladno.
The mining industry began in Kladno in 1842. And the first Blast furnace was built here only in 1855.
I date this razor before 1842 or near.
So, it's only my idea.Alex Ts.

Thanks for the reply. Either way it would be good steel. I would love a razor made from Poldi steel to match up with my vintage 1950s Brno rifles.

Speaking as a moderator ...... any offers ..... even by innuendo ...... need to be by PM please. SRP rules prohibit transactions within forums. Lets just enjoy these wonderful razors and confine any lust to personal messages.
Speaking as a member ...... Great stuff manah ..... gets my RAD juices flowing too .....

It sure does ! It's almost identical . I checked Strazors.com (Manah's site) , and although it's very close , it doesn't exactly match any that are pictured . The Mexican flag , has an eagle with a snake in it's talons , and I think that is the reason for the eagle trademark . I have the box , and it has the eagle trademark stamped on it , next to the makers name , with the words Fabrik Marke under it . That , leads me to believe it's not made by ERN .
