Thanked: 1195If I'm not mistaken the Col. Conk razors are rebranded Dovos. You should be fine; if the razor didn't come presharpened be sure to send it out to a honemeister get the most out of your first experience.
BTW welcome to SRP

Thanked: 1263Ryan is correct. It's a rebranded Dovo..I've honed a couple and they shave just like my branded Dovo.

If you bought and paid for a Dovo, you should get a Dovo. Yes, Col Conk are made by Dovo but the resale value of the two would be very different. I know that Dovo had some quality issues with some of their rebranded straights. They made some for Edwin Jagger that had serious grind problems. I'd be asking for a Dovo.

The OP said he ordered a Dovo Best. That is not a Col Conk. Edwin Jagger ended up scrapping their straights made by Dovo as they had huge quality issues. I remember Neil Miller saying that he was offered some cheap but he refused because they weren't worth the hassle of trying to hone them.
Someone else complained about the same thing. Ordered a Dovo and got a Col Conk

Thanks everyone, I did in fact order a DOVO BEST, no where did it say anything about COL. CONK when the order was placed. I will now be returning my new COL. CONK in exchange for the DOVO that i paid for. One last thing, I am new to the whole forum thing and all the lingo, what is the "OP" that you guys have been referring to?

Thanked: 13246This is exactly WHY we say Buy from SRP Vendors, Amazon and E-bay sellers either have zero clue what they are selling, or worse do, and use deceptive advertising to sell their stuff...
Their are many vendors from all over the world that are active SRP members and sell Dovo, actual Dovo Best Quality razors, that are Honed to "Shave Ready" when you get them..
Basically you wasted time and money by trying to save money on Amazon, You bought a Col Conk and it ain't "Shave ready"
As to a difference in the razors I doubt there is much, if at all, but JM does have a point the Col Conk has a lower "Precieved" re-sale value at least to me it does, maybe not to everyone else..
I know that doesn't help the OP much unless he can return the razor (Doubtful) but it might help somebody else reading the threads...
To the OP if you are in the US I will hone the razor for you No Charge, just to get you off on the right foot should you choose to keep it (shipping is on you though ) if you are out of the US the cost factor of shipping gets high and perhaps maybe another Honemiester will offer that is closer
Edit: You are the OP "original post(er)"

gssixgun; Thank you for the most generous offer, i really appreciate it but i have decided to return the razor that i did not order and will be purchasing a DOVO from an SRP vendor. The reason i went through amoron was because i had a gift card, NEVER again!! I want a DOVO BEST QUALITY RAZOR! This was to be my second razor, i started out with a fromm, which was good once i got a shaving edge on it, but its still not great. Thank you again for all the help and advise.
