    Back in the old days if a razor you bought new didn't shave perfect out of the box that would be considered a manufacturers defect and most men would have returned it.

    If you take a NOS piece that has sat for 50+years in it's case which is not really sealed (meaning air tight) and it's maybe in a hot humid environment I don't doubt the celluloid could deteriorate. Celluloid doesn't really need much of a reason to break-down.

    The age of what? You mean the advertisement?

    If that's the age you mean Pearlduck spent most of it's existence in Jamaica, New York so that is before they moved while they were still in Manhattan so I would guess early 1950s.

    What's the blade edge length on the Dwarf? Was it used for touchups around beards and mustaches?

    The dwarf blade was 1/2 shorter then regular razors and it was intended for regular uses not as a trimmer.
