Somebody puts a carbon chain on their razors....I ain't wit dat. From Eezox: Custom knife makers and high grade knife resellers can be assured that their knives will be protected against the normal pitting and staining problems that can be caused by invisible sputum (microscopic particles of spittle) falling on the blades of their knives that are on open display at knife shows."

Ballistol is pretty much top of the heap for keeping your razors happy. Been using it for years with nothing but good results. Word has it Hart Steel is now using it before packaging their razors to keep them safe during transport and storage before sale.

I put Ballistol in a Japanese applicator that is made for Camellia oil. I even like the smell of it...I put it on and lightly wipe it off so there is the slightest film. Before using the razor again a quick wipe with tissue....done.

CLP is good in the field, though at home when ease of use and storage space are not a concern, try it-you'll like it!
I use Gunzilla quite regularly for cleaning, particularly on AR's & 1911's. It's good stuff. I use Tetra gun grease on the slide rails on the 1911's & bolts on the ar's though, it's a bit more advanced than standard lithium grease. A little sure goes a long ways...

If this is any help , I have to store some of my razors long term when I,m traveling , I just make sure their dry and I put them in my gun safe that has a dehumidifier. No rust , only time I got rust is when I got back home this time to a razor I left out of the safe ,, my fault live and learn , so I do use wd40 now even in the safe after this incident. Tc

Ironic that I ran into this thread. I had some razors sent out to me a while ago that I had in storage in coastal SC...rust and humidity anyone?...rust jumps on everything really quick with the salt air. Anyhoo...to prevent that from happening I had put some vaseline in the microwave and melted it then dipped each of my "not frequently used" razors in the vaseline. Seems to have worked. Cleanup was as you'd expect...somewhat messy...used alot of paper towels...lol. The bottom line was no rust though and no ill effects seem to havetaken place. As it is, I may likely sell the "not frequently used" razors anyway...vaseline at no extra charge...lol.

I've never had any moisture problems as i keep my blades well dried off and stored out of the bathroom.
It helps that here in Calgary we have a very dry climate.
But if i were to treat my razors, could i use "Baby Oil"?

Baby oil is nothing more than mineral oil with a scent added.

I'll take that response as a "yes".

I use Tuf Glide ever since it was introduced to me & I have never had a problem with it. After a shave I blow any excess water out with canned air used on computers & I will lube the pivot pin with Tuf Glide & wipe any excess off with a clean rag & it works great. It is used by Navy Seals. It goes on wet but then turns into a dry lubricant. It dissipates water also. You can buy it from some vendors like Classic Shaving or from the manufacturer Gun Cleaning, Knife Care, Gun Care, Lubrication & Corrosion Protection, Rust Stopper, Oil-Free, Sentry Solutions. In my opinion it is the best lube you can buy for razors, knives, firearms & more. I have been recommending it to people on here whenever I get the chance to. You can't go wrong with this product!
