Respectfully, this is incorrect. Camellia is tea seed oil; tea tree oil is different. Camellia oil is sometimes also used as a cooking oil.

I've got this oil; Kamelienöl Sinensis® | DICTUM GmbH - Mehr als Werkzeug

It's springtime for Carl, who knows! Out rubbing his blades on oily koala noses, maybe.

    Hey Scott,
So glad you opened this thread. It made me inspect more closely. I've used camellia oil for a while now and haven't had any problems, so I haven't inspected them as regularly as I used to. I started going through them this morning and so far I've had the thick sticky oil on 7 or 8 and 5 of those had staining from oxidation, and one with pitting, speckled like leopard spots. It's been maybe 4 months since I last looked at them and all were stored in their holders in a box with desiccants. Cleaned up with metal polish and now all my razors are getting Renissance Wax. Many already had Renwax fortunately and were in the same box, and were fine. No more Camellia oil for me either.

    Best Regards,
    Howard

I found five more that I had put away myself. Dawn dw soap, hot water, and a soft hand towel is what I used to clean the others up with. I've had to rehone each one, a couple needed 4K even on the Shapton GS's. I'm going to stick with what I know and that also includes RenWax as well. You just can't really beat that stuff!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we need to spread the word to others on the forum...sounds like it may be the oil, not just the product that I purchased.

    Hi Howard!

    Which brand did you use?
Maybe it's a brand issue and not an oil issue.
Talked to some friends here in Sweden, they all use the same brand as me and none had any problems.
