Thanked: 346I wonder if this isn't related to the different hones we use over here compared to the continent. The Norton and Shapton synthetic hones makes extremely fast work of the friodur and puma inox razors. Several of my first razors were Friodurs and I thought they were quite simple to hone. But I could see how they would be annoying to hone on a slow natural hone like the coticule. This topic came up when we were discussing the wacker razors and how much trouble they are on the synthetic hones because of the microchipping problem. But the Friodurs, which seem to be about the same hardness as the Wackers, don't suffer the microchipping problem so the aggressive ceramic hones work beautifully on the Friodurs but chip the Wackers.
I notice Dave also thinks the Friodurs are tough to hone, but I believe you use the chinese waterstone don't you Dave? And that's a slow natural stone as well.

Recently I received Puma. Model 39 5/8. NOS. And it was like this – listen ...
For a long time I’ve been watching Pumas. The brand & mark weren’t a criterion but the quality. I just knew I want it. The barrier was the higher price than other razors and my beginning shaving skills. Sometimes you know what you need and simply you want it. I wanted Puma but then I didn’t know how and when I would do it.
I read many forums and shaving sites and was watching hours of Pumas. I’ve been collecting info to get “mine”. Target was to buy as new as it is possible. So, the Revisor had one. I've shopped with Revisor before, so I was confident in what they offered and could be trusted. And so:
- target - Puma
- short correspondence (as always smooth and efficient)
- purchase
After shopping, I impatiently tracked the shipment. I wanted to pick it up quickly. When the parcel was already in the country, I accidentally met the postman outside the house. He said there is something, but it wasn't there now and it would be tomorrow. “Oh no buddy, I can't wait until tomorrow” I thought to myself. In the evening I went to the post office to pick up the box. We returned home together.
The package is small, but it's nice.
After opening.
3 nice Revisor commercials.
And the instruction.
Finally, Puma. Packed in a case and a string bag.

Separately.
Along with the razor, I have a mini book about Puma. It contains Puma advertisements, history, production process, information about quality, storage, etc. I'm not sure if other manufacturers do the same, but it is valuable information for shavers. I will talk about the book another time.
Little case.
And in it.

I took Puma in my hand. I had the impression that it was heavy. It apparently weighs ~40 g according to a kitchen scale.
My Revisor has ~39, and Wapi 37. A small difference, but still noticeable.
The next day I shaved. Puma sounds different than Revisor and Wapi. I had a very nice shave. After 2 days, I feel like I've shaved better than with other 2 razors. Hard to say why. Revisor sells "ready to shave" razors and that was the case this time. Puma is sharp.
I am happy with the purchase and I think it is worth the price, although it is higher than others.
How do you like it folks?
