Hi Antonello, if you let me here's all good, the "usual" Mastro Livi superb, the new travel strop that I envy you, but above all, in the background, I see a great aftershave bay rum, with a major label. Can you tell us something about this wonderful creature of yours? The excellent post-shaving is only about Mastro Livi or aftershave?

Hello Stefano,
of course Mastro Livi razors make a huge difference in shaving and you know this very well. The bottle you see in my picture is a bay rum I recently made. It was such a long time since I was not making it, so I thought it was the right time to make it again. You can find some pictures of the making here: http://straightrazorpalace.com/presh...ml#post1280274
I must say I am quite happy with my bay rum recipe, which however is pretty common and well known and it is basically made from dark rum and bay essential oil. You know I like to make, from time to time, shaving creams/soaps as well as after shaves. Now, if we want to compare my bay rum with Floid, the latter certainly wins the match hands down, however my bay rum leaves a pretty smooth skin and has a pretty good soothing property. I like it. Well, I love Floid, too, of course! The RazorGuy - StraightRazorChannel on Youtube and Google+

I have deliberately provoked 'cause you tell us something selfmade aftershave that sooner or later I will try' well I'll do. Also I love Floid and especially hope to try as soon as possible a Mastro livi friend salva36. It was my first straight razor, then I bought the other, many of them excellent, but those of the master are unsurpassed. Perhaps it is more 'nice to start from the other and try to Mastro Livi for last. The important thing is to try it sooner or later!

Thank you to you for having allowed me to film the making of your new straight razor as well as for having allowed me to film yourself. To me it is a honor and a privilege to spread the art and talent of a dear friend like Mastro Livi, as well as a honor to spread his art and genius.
I hope you enjoyed the video and I am sure you are enjoying your new straight razor immensely. The RazorGuy - StraightRazorChannel on Youtube and Google+

Mastro Livi Classic, 6/8 Half Hollow, Round Point
I am very proud to show you all my new Mastro Livi straight razor, a very special razor in many ways. I am sure many of you noticed it is the "classic" Mastro Livi called by many as "new grind". As I have heard many stories about this razor around the web and from other passionate straight razors as well, I wanted to clear it and decided to ask Mastro Livi to tell the real story of how he got the blades and how he work them. It was also the occasion to shoot a new video in which I filmed Mastro Livi accounting the story of these blades. I did it with two main goals in mind: I wanted to know the real story of these blades directly from the ones who certainly know about it (Mastro Livi and Paolo Fazzini of Pinin Forbici) as well as wanted to let all the ones in the world who own this razor to know its story. It is an interesting story and I hope you will appreciate it.
You should also know the razor you see in the following pictures is the very last of the stock of blades Mastro Livi bought in 2007 from Pinin Forbici of Premana, Lecco - a well known Italian scissor maker - who had this stock of molded blades belonged to Paolo "Pinin" Fazzini, the grandfather of the current owner whose name is the same of his grandfather. Mastro Livi tested some of them and found them to be of good quality and meeting his standards. He then decided to buy the whole stock and started making straight razors from them. The blades were absolutely new and no one ever worked them or processed them in any way: the first one who has ever worked those blade, from tempering to grinding, has been Mastro Livi.
My new Mastro Livi straight razor is the last one of this stock and razors like this one will not be produced anymore in future. I therefore thought about shooting a video of the making of the last "Mastro Livi Classic" carbon steel straight razor and made from blades belonging to this well known stock, probably made by forging and molding process in 1930-1940s, then bought by Paolo "Pinin" Fazzini and then bought by Mastro Livi. The origin of the steel is not known as well as it is not known where and how these blades were forged and therefore shaped with a molding process. You will know more about this story as soon as I will publish the video.
For the moment, here it is my new Mastro Livi. By the way: I absolutely love the beautiful, gorgeous, breathtaking scales!

That is, a real show! I think the blade and steel you've already 'explained a lot, and will be' like always interesting to see your new movie (luckily for me in Italian!). You know that I love razors, but even more 'perhaps the scales. The details of the objects fascinate me a lot. Your scales are among the most 'beautiful products from the Master. Different from the usual but not showy, rich in detail without going overboard. In Italy we say "a real gem" but I do not know how to translate into English!
I'm very happy for you, you deserve this gem!
