For $180 starting bid, that edge really doesn't look too good...

Sucker? It's like the Stock Market. You buy and hope the stock goes up so you can sell. People who bought DDs say 10 or more years ago are making a killing now and maybe in 10 years or so they may be worth twice what they are going for now or maybe not. One thing is certain though, folks have always complained about rising prices and the prices continue to go up.

Wow! Came across this thread while trying to research what I bought. I am new to this site and straight razor shaving in general. I just bought my first straight razor and am waiting for it to come in the mail. I am having a hard time learning exactly what I have. The razor is a dubl duck, satinedge, bresnick new York but also says pearlduck made in Germany on the tang. Not even sure what size it is (the description on ebay was not very specific)? Any info on this razor would be much appreciated. Also, it may need to be rescaled and will definitely need to be honed. If anyone knows someone on here that does good work, I will send it his (or her) way.

Welcome to SRP superchunk17, Some info on the company: http://straightrazorpalace.com/srpwi...p/Bresduck_Inc. Your razor was re-scaled at one point, the tip of the razor was re-shaped probably because of a chip in the blade. Unlike the seller on ebay in his description that claimed the razor was shaped like a duck beak, it is not original to the razor.

That may be so, but when it comes to which I'd rather have in my shaving hand it is the Livi every time.

    Martin103,

Ok. Thanks for the info. Do you think after everything the razor has been through it is worth getting redone? Based off of what you can see from the pictures, will what was done affect the way it shaves once honed?

If the grinding was done correctly, it should be fine, but if the blade got to hot from grinding the temper of the blade might be affected, i would definately contact a restorer from the list they know a lot more then myself about this.
