    Default rust prevention

I thought I read on here somewhere that you could use food safe mineral oil in a light coat to keep blades rust free, is that right?

Lots of guys use mineral oil, works fine. It may pool on a highly polished blade. Search mineral oil, etc above right and there's a lot of info on it.

Here's a video by Lynn that includes oiling a razor.

Mineral oil will work. If it's a razor your using daily, Once it's dry, A quick wipe with a silicone treated cloth will also work. Like those used on Firearms, etc...

Thanks, just wanted to be sure as I have some mineral oil on hand. The vid was great, are they on here or how do I locate them on you tube? Me and search engines have a love hate relationship.

Speaking of this topic, does anyone use VPI paper to wrap their razors? Mineral oil seems a lot easier but then again, maybe not.

Glen ships restored razors in it, at least I do believe what the paper is properly called. I find it's not that expensive and if I lived in an area where oxidization was a problem I'd probably use it.

Please note: He also ships the blades with a light coat of WD40 that was applied before using the rust preventing paper to wrap the razor in.

How long the paper is good for, I have no idea!

Had to GOOGLE VPI Paper & my answer is no, I don't use it.
I wrap my rotation in linen handkerchiefs from Wal Mart, cheap for a pack. After I strop, I mineral oil with a Q-Tip the razor and roll it in the handkerchief. The excess oil rolls into the handkerchief over time, impregnating it, not a blemish on my rotation,,,they sit on the bathroom sink in our humidity, no problem.
