Thanked: 4249Very interesting thread! A couple things come to mind that i dont think was mentioned. Steampunk scales, and two pins at the wedge end of scales. i just about agree with everybody comments, and it was cool to see Birnando come out of his shell!

Thanked: 3225That is funny that you mention steam punk razors, being conservative in other areas I do find steam punk razors interesting. Strange eh.

Thanked: 1184I have NEVER met a razor I didn't like ! Now that does not mean I would spend that much for it or that I would use it. I use Ducks and so far that's all I need/want. I have a group of big blades on my work bench and their all getting new horn scales. They will be old school and I will test drive them soon enough. I would never buy what a scale collector loves. I am in it mostly for the shave and not really looking to have a 100 razor collection. I will always have a small duck collection but that is not just razors either.
I do plan on making some blades someday and when I do I will make 3 kinds. 1 for use, 1 to use sometimes and look at mostly, 1 that sells for the most. :<0)Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Where are all these naked women scales? Really, I've never seen one, and I might need to try it before I can dislike it.
I love the smell of shaving cream in the morning!

I think in the 60's I was with a naked woman that had scales. Wait a second, are we still talking about razors?

The razors I really hate are the nice ones that I don't own.

Thanked: 154I haven't yet come across a type of straight razor that I didn't like, though may be just because I'm easily pleased. I think of razors sort of like brands of beer - all of them are good; some are just better than others.

I don't care for or would own a Mass Prodution Razors. I feel like the craftsmen's ship is lost with bad grinds, warped scales and what not. I "myself" use custom razors only 8/8 or bigger. I must say I do enjoy looking at and reading about all razors on SRP and I believe that's what makes it such a great place to share are latest and greatest finds and builds.

Right for better or worse here goes:
All those crappy skull, flame, marijuana leaf scaled monstrosities from eBaY.
Unnecessary restorations - with age comes character.
Big chunky heavy scales.
Acrylic scales.
Bling.
Horn scales.
Kamisoris - never used one just don't like the aesthetics.
Most custom razors - not that I would buy one anyway but I look to see what they are like, I don't know that I have seen much advertised on this site (no offence intended to any vendors) custom wise that I really like. Some of the stuff in show and tell has been pretty mind you. I suppose how a razor feels and shaves is important and I would expect good balance and good shaves from a custom razor.
Not really a fan of gold wash etc, just seems to be something else to avoid damaging whilst looking after your razor.
Probably could have just said nothing crappy from eBay, and anything fairly understated and simple, with the exception for my desire to own some mop with silver inlaid scales.
Either way there you go.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast
