    Funny thing happened at the bouldering club the other day. An American lady saw a spider up on the ceiling and asked me to look at it and see if it was a Funnel Web (so she know what one looked like). I said I didn't think so as they live in burrows in the ground; but I climbed up to look anyway. When I saw it I said "Naaa, it's not a Funnel Web, it's just a Red Back". She cracked up laughing saying 'Oh, JUST a Red Back, it's only like the SECOND most dangerous spider". I realised then how very 'Australian' my comment sounded...

    We do take a very relaxed view of dangerous things down here. I've been swimming in Katherine Gorge as the crocs were only small ones...(Johnstone River Crocs)

    If you were scared you would never leave the house. I was surprised that drop bears didn't get a mention, they are a scourge especially in woodlands, but the rarer urban ones are terrifying.
